Uncertainty modelling and processing with possibility theory

French National Center for Scientific Research - CNRS

In this lecture, we will remind the basic axioms of possibility theory, when used as a tool to model uncertain knowledge.

Both the qualitative and quantitative aspects of the theory will be recalled, but we will focus on the mumerical and quantitative aspects.

Beyond basic axioms, we will touch upon a number of important processing tools, such as the construction of possibility distributions from available knowledge, conditioning, information fusion, multi-variate modelling, uncertainty propagation and decision making.
